The medieval village existed before XIIIth century. Castrum Montecluso, such is the Latin shape contained in a document of 1275. His position on a hill surrounded with mountains he was worth his name. There are the vestiges of a former monastery troglodytic Benedictine (vast room dug in the rock) in the locality " Les Beaumes " which was later of use as chapel to the Knight Templars (XII and XIIIth centuries).
Later was built the Bridge of the Mill stepping over Cèze which as it is said rolled golden glitter. Admirable site, beautiful rural houses and narrow alleys give to this village a cachetexceptionnel. |
